REGISTRATION FORMS
Please contact the Registrar to receive a registration form.
The following components are required for registration as a midwife in New Brunswick:

  • Successful completion of an approved Canadian midwifery education program (if educated in Canada) OR a Canadian midwifery bridging program* (if internationally-educated). 
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Midwifery Registration Exam.

  • Letter of Standing and Professional Conduct from your current regulatory body (if applying from another Canadian jurisdiction). 

  • The following certifications:
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within the past 12 months;
    • Neonatal Resuscitation within the past 12 months; and
    • Emergency Skills Workshop within the past 24 months.
  • Clinical experience (a minimum of 60 births within the last 5 years, including at least 10 home births).
    ​
  • Criminal Record Check issued within the last 3 months.
  • Photo identification. 
  • Proficiency in English or French.
  • Proof of Professional Liability Insurance OR Letter of employment with a Regional Health Authority in New Brunswick.​
  • Proof of citizenship OR legal entitlement to work in Canada.
  • Application and Registration Fees.​

* Please note that there are no bridging programs available in the Atlantic provinces. ​
