The Midwifery Council of New Brunswick (Council) is the governing and regulatory body that oversees the registration and practice of midwifery in the province.
The Council protects the public by setting policies and standards of professional practice for Registered Midwives to deliver safe, ethical, and effective care.

The Council, legislated in 2010 by the Midwifery Act and Midwifery Regulations, is responsible for:
- Regulating the profession of midwifery;
- Establishing a code of ethics, standards of practice, and guidelines consistent with other Canadian provinces;
- Registering midwives and ensuring their competence to practice with a yearly registration renewal;
- Governance per By-laws.
